LSM6DSOX
STMicroelectronicsThe LSM6DSOX is a 6-axis IMU system-in-package combining a 3-axis digital accelerometer (±2/±4/±8/±16 g) and a 3-axis digital gyroscope (±125/±250/±500/±1000/±2000 dps) with an embedded machine-learning core for on-device motion classification. The ML core runs decision-tree classifiers trained with Weka on acceleration and angular-rate patterns, offloading activity recognition from the host MCU and cutting system power — the combo draws 0.55 mA in high-performance mode. A 16-program finite state machine, 9 kB FIFO with data batching, sensor-hub support for an external magnetometer, and SPI/I2C/MIPI I3C interfaces complete the package in a 2.5 x 3 x 0.83 mm LGA, with Android K/L/M compliance for mobile designs. Selection advice: against the LSM6DSO the X variant adds the machine-learning core; against the LSM6DSO32 the trade is full-scale range vs feature set; the ICM-42688-P (TDK) and BMI270 (Bosch) are the cross-vendor alternatives with different power/feature envelopes — confirm ML-core support in firmware if you need on-sensor classification. For activity trackers, wearables, gesture interfaces, vibration monitoring, OIS/EIS camera stabilization and laptop free-fall protection, on-device ML reduces host wake-ups and extends battery life.
