ISO1042
Texas InstrumentsThe ISO1042 is a galvanically isolated CAN FD transceiver meeting ISO 11898-2:2016, with ±70 V DC bus fault protection and ±30 V common-mode voltage range for harsh industrial networks. It supports classic CAN up to 1 Mbps and CAN FD up to 5 Mbps for faster payload transfer, with a 5000 VRMS SiO2 isolation barrier (basic and reinforced options), 100 kV/µs common-mode transient immunity, and system-level ESD/EFT/surge EMC robustness. The logic side accepts 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.3 V and 5 V supplies to interface directly with low-voltage MCUs, while the bus side runs 5 V for signal integrity; operating range is -40 to +125 °C and packages are SOIC-16 (DW) and SOIC-8 (DWV). Selection advice: against the ISO1044 the ISO1042 offers higher bus-fault protection (±70 V vs 58 V) and 5 kVrms isolation at the cost of larger package; the ISO1042-Q1 is the AEC-Q100 automotive-qualified sibling for -40 to +125 °C vehicle networks; the ISO1050 covers classic CAN only without FD — choose FD variants when the network migrates to higher payload rates. For motor drives, factory automation, grid infrastructure and building controls, the ISO1042 isolates ground-potential differences and bus faults so a single node failure cannot propagate across the network. Parameters verified against Texas Instruments official product documentation; ISO1042BDW confirmed ACTIVE, Catalog rating.
