The combination of broadband gain and strong linearity makes the stage a practical gain element for IF and RF sections in communications equipment, test instruments and broadband distribution, reducing the matching and bias design work each new board would otherwise repeat. Note that these figures are the HMC589A values from the current datasheet; the older non-A HMC589 has different gain data and must not be used for this code.
