TMC5221AWV+T
Analog DevicesTMC5221AWV+T is a miniaturised single-axis stepper motor controller and driver with an SPI interface, in a 30-ball wafer-level chip-scale package of only 2.3 mm by 2.49 mm, built for battery-operated and space-constrained equipment such as wearables, lens control, CCTV and medical pumps. The driver stage runs motors from 2.1 V to 16 V at up to 1.4 A RMS coil current (2 A sine peak) with 256 microsteps per full step, lossless integrated current sensing and low on-resistance, while StealthChop2 delivers silent operation, SpreadCycle covers highly dynamic moves, and StallGuard load sensing with CoolStep current adaptation saves up to 75 percent of energy. A flexible eight-point motion controller with minimum jerk handles positioning autonomously over SPI or the STEP/DIR interface with MicroPlyer interpolation, and TriCoder detects standstill step loss sensorlessly. Interface levels of 1.1 V to 2 V fit mobile processors directly, and extensive diagnostics, overcurrent and short-circuit protection plus supply and temperature monitoring are integrated. Selection advice: choose the TMC5221 when your host speaks SPI; the otherwise matching TMC5222 is the I2C-interface variant of the same silicon concept. Parameters verified against Analog Devices documentation.
