ESP32-S3R8

Espressif Systems

ESP32-S3R8 is the in-package-PSRAM variant of Espressif's ESP32-S3 SoC — dual-core Xtensa LX7 at 240 MHz with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5 LE in the same 7 × 7 mm QFN-56 as the base chip, with 8 MB of octal PSRAM stacked inside the package. The in-package memory is the selection point: frame buffers, TinyML model working sets and voice buffers that overflow the 512 KB internal SRAM get dedicated RAM without routing to an external memory chip. Selection advice: the R8 code denotes the 8 MB octal PSRAM variant and carries a reduced operating range of −40 °C to +65 °C (the PSRAM limit), against −40 °C to +105 °C for the bare ESP32-S3 — check the thermal corner before substituting it into an industrial design. This variant has no in-package Flash: pair it with external QSPI Flash, or choose the ESP32-S3FN8 on this site (8 MB in-package Flash, no PSRAM) when what the design needs is code storage.
