CH340N
WCHCH340N is a USB-to-serial bridge chip from WCH (Qinheng) in an 8-pin SOP package - the smallest member of the CH340 family. It converts full-speed USB 2.0 to a hardware full-duplex UART at 50 bps to 2 Mbps, supports 5 V and 3.3 V operation, and needs no external crystal thanks to its built-in clock, which makes it the lowest-BOM-cost way to add a USB console or programming port to MCU boards, adapters and industrial controllers. Selection advice: the N variant trades pins for size - when a design needs full MODEM handshaking signals or EEPROM-configured serial numbers, step up to the SOP-16 CH340G, C or B variants; the WCH datasheet marks only the older CH340R as discontinued, and CH340N remains in production. Parameters verified against the WCH CH340 datasheet (ordering table) and product page.
